Kimberly had been on the streets struggling with a drug addiction for many years. She found hope when she encountered We See You San Diego and they offered her a way out. She moved to a recovery house and joined Be A Friend because she was looking for something simple and profound: “to have a friend, a real friend.” Lauren, a volunteer with WSYSD, was excited to offer encouragement to someone transitioning from recovery to a new life. Their connection has moved into a heartfelt friendship grounded in mutual admiration. Lauren’s compassion and Kimberly’s warmth have helped them get to know one another with a bond that reflects the very essence of the Be A Friend program.
