When Ramona arrived in San Diego, she experienced uncertainty and loneliness. She was encouraged by a former case manager and she turned to UPLIFT. She then then joined the Be A Friend program in hopes of finding connection and guidance.
Karen, who joined as a mentor, had a clear goal: “I would like to help a person less fortunate find their footing in life.” With Ramona, she found just that opportunity. Together, they are forging a friendship that empowers Ramona to feel seen, heard, and hopeful about the journey ahead.
UPLIFT provides free services to San Diego’s most vulnerable, helping house our homeless neighbors and academically advance low income students.
