After a difficult upbringing and experiencing more than 17 years of incarceration, Mike found support and a new path through Rise Up Industries. Rolf, a longtime San Diegan with a heart to give back to his community, joined the Be A Friend program. Rolf and Mike have formed an uncommon and transformative friendship, impacting each other. They enjoy meeting and finding similar interests and are building a foundation of trust. This friendship has given Mike the opportunity to move forward with a newfound hope for the future.
Rise Up Industries follows the model of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles. Its employment program assists previously incarcerated, formerly gang involved individuals, to successfully re-enter society.
